What's a wiki?

A wiki is a collaborative website that allows people to edit and share information easily via the web. In many classrooms, wikis provide an opportunity for students to create group projects, create a knowledge base of information on a topic they may be covering in class, or get handouts and assignments from the teacher. The term "wiki" comes from the Hawaiian word "wiki-wiki" which means fast, and the wiki technology embraces its naming origin by ensuring that changes can be made and shared quick

How do I get started?

If you're a CCS teacher, you're eligible for your own wikispaces site. A google survey was launched in early December 2011 to convert teachers using wikispaces accounts outside of the Chatham County wikispaces account to a CCS wiki. This provides you with greater control of your wiki, more file storage space, and a boost to the file-size upload limit.

Please click Sign In in the upper right part of the screen and then select "CCS Login" from the Sign in Using menu and use the same username and password you currently use for the CCS website.

Why can't I edit every page?

Pages are editable only by teachers and students. You are welcome to view the content, but we do not invite the public at large to edit pages in order to keep the wiki environment a safe and positive place for teachers and students to collaborate.

You are also welcome to edit the school pages, once you've logged in to wikispaces, so that you can add your wiki to the public listing allowing anyone to browse for your site by school name.

How do I get help?

Click on the Help link at the top of the page, or shoot an email to WikiSpaces support at help@wikispaces.com.
